Josh Brolin slams ‘Dune: Half 2’ Oscars snub: ‘Going to give up performing’

After the 2025 Oscar nominations had been introduced on Thursday, Josh Brolin went on a rant slamming the Academy for snubbing his “Dune” director, Denis Villeneuve, and snarked that in response, he’ll “give up performing.”  

Brolin, 56 posted an Instagram Story following the announcement of this 12 months’s nominees.

“Simply need to say congratulations to the Dune finest image nomination, to Greig Fraser for cinematography, for finest visible results, particular results, for Patrice [Vermett] for manufacturing design and for sound, I imagine,” the “Goonies” star addressed the digital camera.

Brolin was referring to an interview he did with Selection in November 2024, the place he first stated that he believed Villeneuve, 57, was snubbed by the Academy when he didn’t get a “finest director” nod for the primary “Dune,” which got here out in 2021. 

“If he doesn’t get nominated this 12 months, I’ll give up performing,” Brolin informed the outlet in November, referring to the second “Dune” film.

Brolin co-starred in each “Dune” films, together with Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Austin Butler and Florence Pugh. 

The sci-fi epic, which relies on the 1965 novel of the identical identify by Frank Herbert, did get nominated for Oscars – it’s within the “finest image” race, together with “A Full Unknown,” “The Substance,” “The Brutalist,” “Depraved” “Anora,” “Conclave,”  “Emilia Perez, “I’m Nonetheless Right here” and “Nickel Boys.”
